So, everyone remember Neopets from our younger days?

Well, whether you do or not, I'm sure you've heard of online petsites - those sites where you can create a username, adopt pets, feed them, train them, play games, use the forums, etc.

I'm gonna step out there and say they're not just for kids! Subeta is a wonderful petsite that I've spent the last three years on. I've met many people from all walks of life and of all ages who all have one thing in common - wanting to spend a little bit of time each day having some fun and chatting with like-minded individuals.

Not a pet fan? Well, Subeta has human avatars, too! You can buy clothes, dress them up and show them off in the forums. There are even occasional cosplay contests and costume contests.

There are tons of games to play, links to check out and the site has a little something for everyone, so why don't you give the button below a click and check it out!

50bookchallenge is a little community that challenges it's members to read fifty books in a single year. I thought I'd try it out again and see how it went! Besides reading fifty books this year, I'm also trying to read at least fifteen thousand pages.

I ran out of room in my first entry (click the 50bookchallenge tag to see all previous entries) so I'm adding a second one!

My Book Listing!Collapse )

All titles behind the cut come with summaries, a few thoughts I have about the novels I choose to read, a page number and a rating out of five. Check out my list, see if anything sounds interesting! If you've read anything I've listed, please feel free to comment on it and we can discuss it all!

So last year was an epic failure on my part with only 29 books read. That's about to change! Here's my second go at the 50 book challenge!

I watched Bringing Out the Dead last night and LOVED it. Such an amazing movie. I hope I never get as jaded as Nic Cage's character, though. Still, Nic Cage is now officially God, and that's not just because he played a medic. Teehee.

Some of the movie was a tad cheesy, some was overkill, but for the most part it hit the nail on the head. A lot of the things Nic Cage's character, Frank Pierce, says, are true. Things like these:

Frank: Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you?

Frank: I realized that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up.

I highly reccommend the movie to those who have not yet seen it. Fabulous. Heartbreaking, and so real.

Two thumbs up. Hands down one of the best films I've ever seen.
